The Figure

8th March - 5th April 2008

From ancient cave painting to cutting edge contemporary.  Artistic representations of the human figure continue to occupy a fundamental position in reflecting and cataloguing societies view of itself.

Hilton Young fine art celebrates this theme with a group show offering seven unique statements on the human form.

Unifier, mediator, lynch pin.  Narrative signifier or formal vehicle in place of abstraction.  The ever shifting archetypal qualities of the human form remain, always present, ever relevant.

Artists Nicola Bealing, Richard Cook, John Emanuel, Naomi Frears, Rose Hilton, Dora Holzhandler and Partou Zia show their unique and diverse approach to representing the figure with sculpture by Nicola Buxton.

Showing in our 1st floor gallery – Particular - Still life paintings by Melanie Miller.
